Free summer meals available for children
Friday, May 31, 2013

Carrollton City Schools is set to provide free meals to children while school is out for the summer. There is no income requirement or registration. Any child under age 18 may receive a free meal at any of the 11 locations in Carrollton, Georgia.

During the academic year, Carrollton City Schools serves approximately 1,700 breakfasts and 3,600 lunches daily. More than 56 percent of these meals are provided at a free or reduced price through the School Breakfast Program (SBP) and National School Lunch Program (NSLP).

“We are excited for the opportunity to provide meals for the children from our district at various sites throughout the community. This is a great option for families during the summer months when their children are not in school to receive a healthy meal during the week,” said Linette Dodson, director of School Nutrition for Carrollton City Schools.

Cumulatively, more than 2,200 locations statewide will participate in the Seamless Summer Option. The goal is to do as much as possible to increase district participation so that more children are fed daily. Listed below are the different sites where free meals will be served in Carrollton.
